Sorry for the Delay in posts but we have been busy here in PPCD

Here are some fun pictures we would like to share with you

Wow look at how well these grew all the stages of growth!

We have had so much going on and love it. Sorry for the delay but there has a been a lot to do and a lot of changes. we have new students in the afternoon and more coming and going in the morning. We have had several amazing fields trips. We have gotten to go to a race track and gone to cut down our own christmas tree. This week we got to send our letters to Santa and we even got to go see him in person!

Here is a awesome new recipe we have discovered though its not for eating.

Cinnamon Ornaments

¾ c. ground cinnamon
1 tbs. ground allspice
2 tbs. ground cloves
1 tbs. ground nutmeg
1 c. applesauce
1 straw
craft glue
food coloring
ribbon

Combine cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and nutmeg. Stir in applesauce, mix well (mixture will be stiff). Roll out to ¼ inch thickness on wax paper or ungreased cookie sheets. Use cookie cutters, peel away excess dough and reroll as needed. Use straw to “punch out” hole to hang by. Let dry for 4-5 days. To decorate, add food coloring to craft glue and use as “icing.” Cut ribbon and hang!

**Yields 9-10 medium sized ornaments

Last week we studied farms and focused on plants and growth. Our class got to go to an actual cotton field and pick cotton We had so much fun exploring the field and seeing how cotton grows. We learned that you have to kill the plant before you can pick the cotton. Its not all white and in the shape of a ball like cotton balls at the store either sometimes its dirty and there are little seeds inside it. We had so much fun and picked lots of cotton for fun crafts in our room.

Mowery's Music

Hello Friends, we just wanted to get you in the know and update you on the songs we sing every day!

In the morning we sing our class chant which goes as follows

M-O-W-E-R-Y

WE ARE HERE

AND READY TO JIVE!!!

GO MOWERY'S MONKEYS!!!
(2X)
Then in the mornings we sing our school family song which goes as follows:

Family Song

I'm  so glad you're my school family!
I'm so glad we're together can't you see!
We come to school to learn and to play!
We make new friends each and every day!
We use our words to say what we feel!
To let friends know our feelings are real!
I'm so glad we're a school family!
I am so glad we are together can't you see!

Then we end  our day with our good bye song. It is  sung to the tune of London Bridges and it goes as follows:

Goodbye Song

It is time to say goodbye, say goodbye, say
goodbye.

It is time to say goodbye. I'll miss you while
we're apart!
(2X)
Now you will know what it is your child is singing when they come home and maybe you can sing  along them.

PPCD

WELCOME TO THE SOUTH KNOLL PPCD!
We are excited to kick off our year here at South Knoll Elementary. We have a bunch of wonderful children in our class and are really looking forward to an AWESOME year. This week we focused on welcome to school.  We traveled around the school and met our South Knoll family and explored  our neighborhood and met new many friends.  Next we are excited to focus on our school family and friends.

About Us:
(pictured above from left to right; Amanda Pedersen, Stephanie Mowery, Marcie Hennig)

Amanda Pedersen:  Helloooooo!!!!I am the Teachers Assistant in the PPCD classroom. I love my job and really enjoy working with children. I have my teaching certificate for general education early childhood to 4th and my Special ed teaching certificate Early childhood to 12th.
I moved from Arizona to College Station about a year ago to work in our class. My sister and her husband also lived here with their son. I aboslutely love my nephew.
I love the crazy fun fast pace of PPCD.  I have been super fortunate to work with Stephanie last year and am so excited to get to work with her again this year. As Stephanie would say Marcie and I are the creative ones and really enjoy doing fun and crafty things with our class.

Stephanie Mowery: Hello..Hello!! I have the pleasure to be the returning teacher of this marvelous PPCD class!!  I have been teaching for 20 years and have a dual degree in Generic Special Education/Regular Education.  I also hold my Lifetime Certification as a Teacher for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
My sweet husband, beautiful 4 yr. old daughter, and I moved to College Station last August.  We love being down in Aggieland :}
It has been a wonderful growing experience to teach these precious young minds!!!  There is NEVER a dull moment in PPCD...it is what keeps a smile on your face. I am excited and blessed to have two wonderful fully certified teachers as my assistants...3 heads really are better than 1...and we definitely need the extra hands around here.  HA!!
We look forward to another great year with Mowery's Monkeys...Come join us on our learning safari!!!

Marcie Hennig: Howdy! I am so glad to return as a long-term substitute with the PPCD classroom! I so enjoyed last year with Stephanie and Amanda, and I know this year will be just as special.
I am from Buda, Texas and now live in College Station after attending Texas A&M, majoring in education. I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my large and "in charge" dog, Sawyer.
As a certified general education teacher (early childhood - 4th grade), I never saw myself in an environment like PPCD. It has been such a blessing to learn how best to serve every child and get to know them. I look forward to working with the team this year and working towards my special education certification!
